Aunt Effie meant the world to me. I was honored that my mother, Thelma (Effie's sister) named me for Effie (Smith) Statler. I have such fond memories of riding Diane's bike up and down Maish Avenue in South Des Moines, of baby-sitting Lester and Carol Sue, of Aunt Effie's cooking and Uncle Lester's kindness. I'll meet Aunt Effie in heaven one day and we will spend eternity together. What a time we will have rejoicing!!

What a sweet lady! My best friend's grandma. I will always remember her and husband, how welcomed they would make me feel when I went to visit them at their home on Stanton Ave. She would always make me laugh. May you rest in peace.
