Russell Wignall
July 27, 2015
Russell Wignall was born May 14, 1925, in Des Moines, Iowa, the son of Lambert and Grace (McGrew) Wignall. He was a lifelong resident of the Des Moines area. He worked as a Maintenance Engineer for the City of Des Moines for many years until his retirement in 1985. After his retirement, he and his wife, Darlene moved to Canada for seventeen years. This was a dream come true as Russell was an avid fisherman. He was a nature lover and enjoyed feeding birds, squirrels, and chipmunks. But above all, he treasured time spent with his family.
Russell passed away Monday, July 27, 2015, at ManorCare in West Des Moines at the age of 90. He is lovingly remembered by his daughters, Sharon Waters and Cindy Daniels (husband, Bob), six grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, and many loving nieces and nephews. Russell is preceded in death by his parents, wife of 69 years, Darlene, son-in-law, Robert Waters, five brothers, and four sisters.
There will be a visitation from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., Monday, August 3, 2015, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 4, also at the funeral home, with interment at Glendale Cemetery.
Memorial contributions received will be directed to Animal Lifeline of Iowa in loving memory of Russell. Condolences may be expressed at www.HamiltonsFuneralHome.com.

Sharon and Cindy, I am so sorry I could not make the funeral or visitation. It is very difficult to get someone to stay with mom. Please know I feel your loss. Mom and I have been sharing memories of both your dad and mom. Those were great days when we all hung together. Hopefully we can get together sometime soon. God give you peace.
