Jean Wallace Clark

Jean Wallace Clark passed away on July 30, 2015. Services will be held on Thursday, September 3, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Hamilton’s on Westown Parkway, 3601 Westown Parkway in West Des Moines with visitation one hour prior.

Jean was born in Des Moines, Iowa to Robert and Ruth (Calvert) Darnes in 1920. She graduated from Lincoln High School Class of 1939, where she was editor of the yearbook and a member of the golf team. Upon graduation she worked for Bankers Life and later at the Ordinance Plant in Ankeny. Jean married Jack Wallace in May of 1941. Together they owned and operated Jack Wallace Auto Radio in downtown Des Moines. Jean was an avid golfer all of her life, and a lifelong member of Park Avenue Presbyterian Church which her father helped found. After Jack passed, Jean married long-time family friend, Bob Clark in 1987.

She will be greatly missed by her four children, Becky (Orville) Crowley, Mark (Rebecca) Wallace, Clark Wallace, and Shelly (Roy) Veach; nine grandchildren; and eleven great-grandchildren. Jean was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Jack H. Wallace and Robert L. Clark; and sisters, Irene Haycock and Bobbe Croft.
