Julian James Burns was born July 20, 1931 in Centralia, OK to Claude Elmer and Beulah (Cox) Burns. He served in the Army for two years and in the Navy for 18 years. He worked for Cook Construction and the State of Iowa before retiring. He enjoyed fishing and spending time outdoors. He also like flower and vegetable gardening.

Julian passed away Thursday, August 27, 2015 at the age of 84.

He is survived by his sisters, Lela Burns and Juanita Griffin, niece, Allice (Mark) Reynolds, great-niece, Stephanie Reynolds, great-nephew, Mark Reynolds, and great-great-nephew, Jackson Gridley.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Billie Marie Burns, nephews, Michael Allen Burns and Charles David Burns, and brothers-in-law, Russell Griffin and Charles DeWayne Burns.

Graveside committal service with military honors will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, September 1, 2015 at Laurel Hill Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the VA Hospital in loving memory of Julian.
