Kenneth Lau

Ken Lau, son of Kenneth and Beverly Lau died unexpectedly September 28, 2015. He was born in Des Moines on March 30, 1959. He grew up and lived on the South side of Des Moines.
Ken was an automotive mechanic specializing in transmissions. He loved the outdoors, and in his younger years, loved camping, skiing, fishing and water sports. Ken also loved being surrounded by his family and many friends. He enjoyed watching the Price is Right and would not start the day until after 11 a.m. when it was over.
He is survived by his mother, Beverly Lau; daughter, Nicole (Jake) DeGard; son, Ken Lau III; and the love of his life, Valerie Martin. He is also survived by his sister, Diane (Jon) Faust; grandchildren, Nevaeh and Hunter DeGard; nephews, Erik, Joel and Keith Faust; step-children, Chris and Chuck Marasco, all of the Des Moines area; and his furry companion, Sprague.
He was preceded in death by his father, Kenneth Lau I; and step-son, Andy Marasco.
A Celebration of Life will be held from 3 to 6 p.m. Saturday, October 10, 2015 at Sudsuckers, 1511 Army Post Road in Des Moines.
