Dora Fontanini, 89, passed away Tuesday, September 29, 2015.

Dora was born May 10, 1926 in Ankeny to Angelo and Elvira (Stefani) Lamberti. She graduated from Ankeny High School in 1944 and went on to graduate from AIB College of Business. In 1949, she married Luti Fontanini. Dora retired from her full time position as an administrative assistant at Iowa-Des Moines National Bank/Norwest in 1989, and continued working part time at the bank, now known as Wells Fargo Bank. She was a member of Vittoria Lodge and the Society of Italian Americans. Dora was a charter member of Christ the King Catholic Church and the Altar and Rosary Society.

Dora is survived by her children, Michael (Sharon) Fontanini, Cynthia Palladino and Thomas (Cheryl) Fontanini; grandchildren, Lisa (Scott) Volden-Toben, Melanie (Yale) Hiscocks, Angela (Michael) Fontanini-Axelrod, Miranda Fontanini, Michael Fontanini and Megan (Douglas Smith) Fontanini; great-grandchildren, Peyton Hiscocks, Kristina Toben, Anastasia Toben, Gillian Hiscocks, Henry Axelrod, Linliey (Fontanini) Okland, George Axelrod, Daphne (Eric) Cogdill and Nic Toben; great-great-grandchildren, Lincoln, Natalie and Miles Cogdill; sister-in-law, Wanda Turchi; several loving and caring nieces and nephews; and a host of other extended relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husand, Luti Fontanini; siblings, Mary Stefani, Yole Massarini and Mingo Lamberti; and her son-in-law, Anthony Palladino.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Friday, October 2, 2015 at Christ the King Catholic Church, 5711 SW 9th Street followed by burial at Glendale Cemetery. The family will greet friends Thursday at the church from 4 to 8 p.m. with the Rosary recited at 7:30 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be directed to Christ the King Catholic Church Altar and Rosary Society or the Iowa Jewish Senior Life Center Employee Holiday Share Fund in loving memory of Dora.
