Dorothea “Dot” LaDue Trotter, 60, passed away October 1, 2015 at Taylor House Hospice after a one year battle with cancer.

Dot was born March 19, 1955 in Fort Dodge to Charles and Dorothy (Eaton) Crouse. She made her home with her mother’s parents, Harry and Alice Eaton in Fonda, Iowa. Dot went to Fonda Public School, graduating in 1973 and attended DMACC in Ankeny. She worked as summer help in 1972 for the Iowa Department of Public Safety and after graduation, she went to work full time for them. Dot worked for the Iowa Department of Transportation for 40 years, during which time she received several awards for being an outstanding employee.

Dot was a great believer and an active member of Park Avenue Presbyterian Church where she had served as a deacon, an elder and taught many Bible study classes. On May 11, 1991, she married the love of her life, Patrick Trotter. They enjoyed 24 wonderful years together. She had several hobbies, was an avid Hawkeye fan, loved to read and care for the many stray animals she took in to her loving home.

Dot will be lovingly remembered by her husband, Patrick; her mother, Dorothy Schulz; and her many friends. She was preceded in death by her father, Charles Crouse.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Tara Graff and Katie for their support and special care as well as the staff at Taylor House.

The family will greet friends from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, October 4, 2015 at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, October 5th at Park Avenue Presbyterian Church, 3120 SW 9th Street. A private family burial will take place at Cedar Cemetery in Fonda, Iowa.
