Bernadine Freeman

Bernadine “Mamo” Freeman was born on April 21, 1938 in Chariton, Iowa. She left this world on Monday, October 5, 2015 at the age of 77.
Bernie was the mother of four: Jeri Sue Wolfe-Avery, Butch Alfrey, Laura (Pat) Mullin, and Russell Alfrey. She was united in marriage to William E. “Gene” Freeman and they enjoyed Shriners events, raising mules, camping, and wintering in Texas with Bernie’s sister, Patsy. But above all, they enjoyed being “Mamo” and “Papo.”
Bernie is survived by her children, Butch, Laura, and Russ, eight grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Margaret and Emery, husband, Gene, daughter, Jeri, sister, Patsy Cook, and brother, Dwayne Hall.
Services will be held at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Thursday, October 8th. Funeral service will be 2:30 p.m., Friday, October 9th.

Rest in peace , dear cousin, friend and loved one, until we meet again, we will miss your phone calls. Not too long ago it was weekly donut day when you came over and had coffee and always brought Jerry plain donuts. Life has been a great journey through the years.We will miss you .
