Rev. Denton Wayne Ericson, 81, died October 5, 2015 at Spurgeon Manor in Dallas Center, IA. Services will be held Friday, October 23, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at Fort Des Moines United Methodist Church, 6205 SW 9th St. in Des Moines, IA with visitation on Thursday, October 22 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Hamilton’s on Westown Parkway, 3601 Westown Parkway in West Des Moines. Burial will be at North Lawn Cemetery in Fort Dodge, IA.
Denton was born January 28, 1934 in Albert Lee, MN to Elvira (Thompson) and Winnie Ericson. He graduated from Fort Dodge High School, Iowa State with his bachelor’s, and St. Paul School of Theology with his master’s in Theology. He served as a Pastor for the United Methodist Church for 26 years, and then was a Respiratory Therapist at Iowa Methodist Hospital for 10 years before retiring in 2000.
He enjoyed woodworking, especially on his cabin at Lake Okoboji, camping, traveling, Cyclone sports and being with his grandchildren.
Denton is survived by his wife of 53 years, Elaine Ericson; children, Sue (Todd) Bransky, John (Jenny) Ericson, Wendy Ericson, and James Ericson; and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his brother, Gerald Ericson.

One more guy from the fish fry gang of Wesley fellowship at ISU has passed on. Denton, we will miss you as you join my first husband, Stan, and Jan Lingren's husband, Herb.

I have very fond memories of spending time with the Ericson family while growing up. Denton was a great friend to my family and a kind man. My heart and thoughts are with you all.

Thinking of you all (Elaine, John, Sue, James, Wendy and your families) at such a difficult time and wishing you peace. I only got to meet Denton a handful of times but I remember that, each time, he always had a great big smile on his face.

Farewell to a long time friend from college days at Iowa State. He leaves us with many fond memories of a genuinely good and kind person. Peace to his family and eternal peace to Denton.
