October 06, 2015
Jayne Pigneri Lipovac passed away peacefully with her family at her side on Tuesday, October 6, 2015.
Visitation will be held Sunday, October 11, 2015 at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. with the Italian American Women’s Auxiliary Presentation at 2:30 p.m. and the rosary to begin at 4:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:30 a.m., Monday, October 12, 2015 at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Des Moines with burial to follow at Glendale Cemetery.
Jayne’s family includes her children, Kathie (Ron), son Ray, son Tom (Kathi), and daughter Sheila (John); grandchildren, Zachary (Melissa), Drew, Scott, Allison (Drew), Lisa, Kaitlyn (Blake), Dylan, and DJ; great-grandchildren, Peyton and Zoey; sister, Margaret Baratta; brother-in-law, Gene Lipovac; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
Her greatest love was her family. She especially enjoyed precious moments with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Jayne was an avid preserver of family memorabilia, genealogy, and photos that she shared with family and relatives. She loved to entertain family and friends with her cooking and baking, making Italian dishes including meatballs, spaghetti and lasagna as well as Italian pastries such as quantas.
Jayne retired in 1995 from the Polk County Recorder’s office after previously working for many years at Drake University in the Student Loan Department. Prior to that, she was the bookkeeper for her father, Frank Pigneri Construction and was a homemaker.
Among her many interests were her Italian heritage, her love of Frank Sinatra music and old movies, her volunteerism, her flower garden, treasuring times with her family, and traveling especially to Italy to visit her father’s homeland. She was active in the Italian American Cultural Center of Iowa, Society of Italian Americans Auxiliary, Catholic Widow and Widowers Club, and Pioneer Columbus Senior Center.
Jayne was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Sr., and her parents, Frank and Mary Leo Pigneri.
The family is appreciative to the Mercy Hospital Staff, Dr. Abdelaziz Elhaddad, the Pioneer Columbus Senior Center, Monsignor Frank Chiodo and the many visitors for their compassion, concern, and support.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, an organization she and her family supported after the passing of her husband, Raymond. In addition, donations can be made to St. Anthony’s Church, where she was a lifetime member.
