Service Details

Mr. Pom Luong was born August 3, 1928, died at the age of 87 on October 7, 2015. He was born in Sonla, Vietnam, the son of Ew and Lao Luongvan. He was the third son from a family of five, with one surviving sister.

When he was seven years old, he was enrolled in the School of Meung Muay. In 1949, he was blessed to have found and married the love of his life, Mrs. Giom Lo Thi. Good fortune has given them seven children - Pheng, married to Hao Lovan; King Vanlo; Thing, married to Noun Baccam; Deua, married to Camlieng Luong; Souane, married to Sisouk Phomvisay; Nong, married to Noy Luong; and La, married to Megan Luong.

In 1952, he joined the Army of France until 1956. When he was released from the Army of France, he migrated his family to Vientiane, Laos. Due to the political changes in Laos in 1976, the family migrated to Nong Kai, Thailand as refugees to avoid prosecution. In February 1979, he then moved to Des Moines, Iowa, in the United States of America to begin the American dream.

Throughout his life, he was passionate to raising the most loving and caring family. Being our heart and soul, he taught us the true meaning of family values. His life-long goal was to always consider and put each of his 19 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren. After a long fulfilling life, he took his last breath peacefully at 7:53 am on October 7, 2015. He was in his home with his loving family by his side. We will forever cherish his passion.
