Service Details

Latrice Ledora Glover, 24, passed away at her home Thursday, October 8, 2015.

Latrice was born December 20, 1990 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to Jerry Glover and Romnita Watkins. She graduated from Roosevelt High School in 2009. Following high school, Latrice enjoyed doing some work as a freelance model. She was interested in pursuing a career in medical research. After weighing several options, she decided to start her education with obtaining her CNA certification from DMACC. Latrice had most recently been employed by the Des Moines International Airport, but due to recent health issues, was forced to resign. She was an avid reader and loved listening to music, especially the R&B hits from the 80’s and 90’s. Latrice loved dancing and was a DDR Champion in high school. She was fun to be around, was always the life of the party, and enjoyed watching romantic movies and old movies.

The highlight of her life was welcoming her daughter, Leona Monae Fields into her life. She loved her baby girl more than anything in the world and was a very attentive mother. Recently she was able to take a trip out of the country to the Cayman Islands, Jamaica, Haiti and Mexico, a goal she had previously viewed as unattainable. Latrice had a pure heart. She was very thoughtful, caring, and kind. Latrice would be the first one to be there if anyone ever needed anything. She wasn’t afraid of anything and would speak up for herself and others she cared about. Latrice loved life and regardless of her health issues, she continued to live life to its fullest and was a fighter right up to the very end.

Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Leona Monae Fields; mother, Romnita Watkins; father, Jerry Glover; siblings, Jarinna Glover, Jerry Glover, Jeresa Glover, Joseph Glover, Jasmine Glover, Keoni Watkins, and Kemora Watkins; as well as many other beloved family members on the Watkins and Glover sides of the family.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Charlie Glover and Ledora Glover, Dorothy Mae Smith and John Watkins; and uncles, Don Glover and Edward Leon Watkins.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, October 16, 2015 at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street followed by burial at Elm Grove Cemetery. The family will greet friends two hours prior to the service Friday at the funeral home.
