Gordon Elliott Lamp Sr., 67, passed away peacefully at his residence on Tuesday, October 6, 2015.

Gordon was born October 5, 1948 in St. Louis, MO, the son of Carl Lamp and Virgie Gettings Lamp.

His passions in life were his family, the outdoors, woodworking, and living in the Rio Grande Valley. He was a proud Army veteran of the Vietnam War and served his country until he was honorably discharged. He was a member of the American Legion, Disabled American Veterans, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Gordon is survived by his wife, his mother, two brothers, five children, and nine grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father and a brother.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., Sunday, October 18, 2015 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. Funeral service will be 1:00 p.m., Monday, October 19, also at Hamilton’s, with interment to follow at Glendale Cemetery.
