Ronald Simonsen
November 19, 2015
Ronald Simonsen, 50, passed away Thursday, November 19, 2015 at his home in Runnells.
Ronald was born January 6, 1965 Hamar, Norway to Helmer and Betsy (Eriksen) Simonsen. He moved with his family to the United States in 1970 when he was five years old. Ronald graduated from Southeast Polk High School in 1983. He then went on to earn his associates degree in diesel mechanics from DMACC. He married his wife, Deanne on October 21, 1989 and they enjoyed 26 years together.
Ronald was an active member of Runnells Christian Church, where he volunteered his time for many different activities. He enjoyed working on cars and was affectionately called the “family fleet manager” because he was always willing to help everyone with their cars. He was a selfless person, volunteering to help anyone who needed it. Ronald was a people person and anyone he met as a stranger, quickly became a friend. He loved hanging out with his friends and visiting with people. Ronald was a loving family man and kept in touch with family via many phone conversations. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his wife, Deanne, daughters, Stacy and Amy, mother, Betsy Simonsen, siblings, Stan (Jill) and Irene Simonsen, half-brother, Jon Tore (Eva) Dokken, mother-in-law, Leota Mark, and many nieces, nephews, and other family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Helmer Simonsen and his father-in-law, John Mark.
A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, November 23, 2015 at Runnells Christian Church, 309 Brown Street, Runnells.
Memorial contributions may be directed to Runnells Christian Church or to the family.

I will always remember Ron's one of a kind laugh. He was always the first person to come and shake your hand. Always remember the stories Stan would tell about how Ron showed Stan what to do and what not do as they were growing up through school. I am sad today for my Brother in law Stan because I know he lost his big brother and best friend. I bet every day people will begin missing what Ron did for them. My prayer go out to Ron's whole family. Ron was very proud of all of you.
