Margaret "Meg" Owens Brown
November 22, 2015
Margaret “Meg” Owens Brown was born the 27th of October, 1941 to Gordon and Mildred Owens. Meg grew up in the Carlisle area. She passed away on Sunday, the 22nd of November, 2015, at Trinity Center at Luther Park.
Meg worked for many years as an executive secretary for Central Tractor Farm and Family Center. She was an accomplished dancer. She was involved in the Arthur Murray Dance Studio and competed in numerous dance competitions around the country.
Meg suffered for 36 years from diabetes. In 1993, she was diagnosed with MS which robbed her of her ability to dance at any level. Even though it had to be torture for her, her favorite program was Dancing with the Stars. Now she is truly dancing with the stars.
Meg is survived by her husband of 36 years, David; daughter, Jami (Tim) Lawson and granddaughter, Nia. Her second marriage provided her with a combined family, giving her two other daughters and eventually six grandchildren, Jennifer Brown and her children, Kaitlyn, David and William; and Heather (Jeremy) Kelly and sons Seth Kelly and Trevor and Devon Curry. She also had three great-grandchildren.
In accordance with Meg’s wishes, she will be cremated. A memorial service is being planned for next spring.
Meg will be missed by those who knew and loved her. She was the epitome of a class act. Meg loved animals. In honor of her memory, any contributions on her behalf can be made to the ARL of Iowa.
Meg’s family want to thank the staff of Trinity Center for the loving care she has received for 20 months and Meg’s Unity Point Hospice team in helping her in such a loving way transition into the peace she so desperately sought.
