Ellen M. Blackford

Ellen Marie (Nauman) Blackford, 83, passed away on Sunday, December 6, 2015, at Winterset Care Center North from Alzheimer’s. She was born February 8, 1932 to Rolland and Bertha (McAninch) Nauman in Des Moines.

Ellen retired from AT&T as a fraud investigator after 38 years of service. She enjoyed painting ceramics and spending time with her family.

Ellen is survived by her children, Mary Greco, Robert Blackford, Victoria (Carl) Stout, and Patrick Blackford; grandchildren, Peter, Angela, Craig, Bobby Jo, and Patrick Jr.; great-grandchildren, Dominic and Angelo; brother, Rolland Ron Nauman; and a host of other great-grandchildren; extended family; and beloved friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Eugene; great-granddaughter, Kimberly; and four sisters.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, December 11, 2015 at North River Cemetery near Indianola. Family will greet friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at Hamilton’s Altoona Funeral Home, 105 4th Street SW in Altoona.
