Mira Beth McKnight, the daughter of Mitch and Michelle McKnight flew away on angel’s wings the morning of Thursday, December 24, 2015. She was born on July 9, 2009 in Newton, Iowa. Mira was a brave 6 year old girl who had fought a courageous battle against cancer. She touched many lives and everyone who met her soon grew to love her. We will always remember her infectious smile, her crazy blonde hair and big blue eyes, and most of all her loving and caring personality. Mira was a shy girl, yet so full of sass!
In addition to her mommy and daddy, she is survived by her big sister, Mikayla, her loving grandparents and extended family and friends.
Family will greet friends from 4 to 6 p.m., Tuesday, December 29, 2015 at Hamilton’s Altoona Funeral Home, 105 4th Street SW. Funeral services will be held at 12 p.m., December 30th at Cornerstone Bible Fellowship in Newton with burial to follow at Restland Cemetery in Baxter.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be directed to the Children’s Cancer Connection or Make-A-Wish Foundation of Iowa in Mira’s name.

Dear Mitch and Michelle. I was so sorry to learn this past weekend that Mira has passed along. I had been tracking her progress off and on since we met you in Ames (or was it Iowa City) during the football game that weekend last fall. I still think that we were meant to meet that day and hope we were able to help alleviate a little bit of pain on Mitch's birthday Steve and I have kept up with her amazing fight and your super amazing attitude and faith. I am confident Mira is in a much better place and serving a much greater good! Blessings to both of you along with big sister Mikayla.

Mitch, Michelle and Mikayla. I am so very sorry about your loss of Mira. She was an amazing little girl. I knew she was special the first time she came into the library. This has been an incredibly difficult time. I am glad you have lots of support in Baxter.

I know you don't want to let her go, yet She is at peace. I really pray the the love and support that you are shown the next few days will help in Greiving her loss. The numbness and shock that you feel right now will help you move through the difficulty of the next two days.
