Harold D. Weller born November 24, 1919 in Tipton, Iowa closed one door of his journey to open a new one. He passed away Sunday, February 7, 2016 at Valley View Village at the age of 96.

Harold enlisted in the Army Air Corps during WWII. He was stationed in Midland, Texas. While in Des Moines on a weekend pass, he met Edna Miske at a roller skating ring. The couple was later married and made their home in Des Moines where they raised their two daughters. Harold worked different jobs in the auto industry. He retired from Crescent Chevrolet in 1989 after 35 years of service. Harold enjoyed his hobby of wine making.

Those that will follow later are daughter, Barbara Hawbaker; granddaughter, Channon (Tony) Timm; great-grandchildren, Charles Timm and Sophia Timm; daughter, Cindy (Mike) Housman; grandson, Michael (Nancy) Housman; great-grandchildren, Josephine Housman; Kiera, Kaiya & KayLee Beerbower; granddaughter, Sarah Housman; great-grandchildren, Briana Housman and Isabella Rumage; and his sister, Bettie Fay of Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Edna; brother, Forrest Weller; and his sisters, Dorothy Kleppe and Irene Slach.

Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. followed by the funeral service at 12 p.m. Friday, February 12, 2016 at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street. Harold will be laid to rest with military honors at Chapel Hill Cemetery.
