Dorothy Benson, passed away on Wednesday, February 10, 2016 at the age of 85. She was born July 14, 1930 to Dell and Nancy Rash in Des Moines, Iowa.
Dorothy enjoyed gambling out at Prairie Meadows. She was very proud of all her grandchildren and their accomplishments. Most importantly, she loved spending time with family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Dorothy always made sure each and everyone knew that they were her favorite!
Dorothy is survived by her sons, Wendell (Liz) Benson, Jr. and Lewis “Bud” Benson; daughters, Betty Jo (Jerry) Phillips and Della Reed; 10 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Wendell Benson, Sr.; granddaughter, Johanna; son-in-law, Darrell Reed.

My words cannot fully express the sorrow I feel at the loss of Dorothy. She was a wonderful woman. I first met her when I was only 12 years old, I had no idea then that she would become family. My heart is breaking for all that knew and loved her. You are all in my thoughts and prayers. May God watch over you all and may she rest in peace.

My heart goes out to all of you, I know the heartache of losing a parent, and as hard as it may be to understand , know that she is in a much better place with no pain and no confusion, you didnt lose a Mom, you layed her to rest and gained an Angel.
