Patricia Ervin

Patricia Ann Ervin, 68, passed away Thursday, February 11, 2016 at University Park Nursing and Rehab. Visitation will be from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m., Sunday, February 14 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. Funeral service will begin at 1:00 p.m. Monday, February 15, also at Hamilton’s, with interment at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens in Marshalltown at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 16, with Mary Beth Siemann officiating at both events.

Pat was born June 10, 1947 in Marshalltown, Iowa to Walter and Elinora Schachtlie. She achieved her Associate’s degree from Marshalltown Community College. She then went on to earn her Bachelor’s degree in 1969 from Judson College in Elgin, Illinois, where she majored in vocal music. She loved singing and playing the piano. She married Robert Ervin in 1974. They later divorced, but to this union two sons were born, Karl and Kevin. Pat was an avid reader and she enjoyed a good meal. She was a people person with a very gentle spirit. She was truly a friend to everyone.

She is survived by her sons, Karl William Ervin and Kevin Roy Ervin, sister, Mary Schachtlie, nieces, Amy Schachtlie and Heather Reeves, and many friends. Pat was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Elinora Schachtlie, sister, Linda Bond, and brother, Robert Schachtlie.
