Service Details

Huc S. Be, 47, passed away surrounded by her family on Wednesday, April 27, 2016 at the University of Iowa Hospital following a brief illness. Huc was born on July 5, 1968 in Vientiane Laos to Theuang Kavanh and Seuang Cavan.

Huc was an Account Specialist with Iowa Student Loan. She was an eager and fast learner and worked her way up in the company by helping and learning from her coworkers. Her family lovingly referred to her as their own “Asian Martha Stewart”. She loved to cook for her family and friends and make each event special by preparing whatever anyone asked for. There was always more than enough food. Huc put everyone’s needs before her own. During her treatment she would watch cooking shows, filling two notebooks with recipes to make for her family and friends as soon as she was able. She loved to shop with her daughter, Mackenzie and she continued the grocery shopping for her parents as their local markets did not carry the specialty items she could get in Des Moines. Huc was also part of the hospitality support group at Iowa Student Loan, organizing baby showers, coordinating food for coworkers and their families who had lost a loved one and all other special office occasions. She also loved to plant flowers around the house and enjoy taking care of them and watching them grow.

Huc is survived by her loving husband of 25 years, Oune; daughter, Mackenzie; parents, Theuang and Seuang Kavanh; sisters, Phuong (Tim) Mougsouvanh, Phong (Phong) Lo, Somboua (Oun) Lovan, Khamphou (Heriberto) Medina, Chom (Kurt) Naae and Nhoth (Dave) Myers; brother, Bounloth Kavanh; 17 nieces and nephews; six great nieces and nephews; her loving dog, Maddie; and a host of beloved friends.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents; brother, Tho Kavanh; and her sister, Pheuy Baccam.
