Norma Butts

Norma Butts, 75, passed away on Tuesday, May 17, 2016 Taylor House Hospice. She was born in Des Moines on March 10, 1941, the daughter of Robert and Dorothy Jacobs.
Norma graduated from North High School and was a member of DeWolf Street Gospel Hall. She was a long time waitress at Denny’s Restaurant and the Four Seasons Restaurant. Norma was known in the neighborhood for reading to the children in her driveway, being woken up many mornings to the children waiting for her. She enjoyed going to garage sales and had the ability to talk to anyone about anything.

Norma is survived by her sons, Robin Butts, Tony (Lorna) Butts, and Merloren Butts; grandchildren, Tyshika (Santiago) Alonzo, Robin Jamez, Benjamin Nichols, and Lil' Tony Butts; many great-grandchildren; siblings, Grace Pearl, Jeanette (Cliff) Lowery, Veronica Haywood, Steve Tate, and Teri (Terry) Fisher; step-children, Gaynell (Dennis) Moore, Derrick Butts, and Demery (Bridgette) Butts; and a host of other loving family and friends.

Norma was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Loren Merlyn Butts; brother, Bobby Jacobs; stepson, Loren Butts; and grandson, Tacono Conner.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, May 22, 2016, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street in Des Moines.
