Sue DeReus

Sue DeReus passed away at her home on Wednesday, May 18, 2016 at the age of 83.

Sue was born February 18, 1933 to Reginald and Fern (Friday) Hoare in Des Moines. She graduated from Mitchelville High School and attended Iowa State Teacher’s College. Sue retired from the State of Iowa where she had worked in the Department of Revenue for many years. In 1982, she began working at the Holiday Inn South and worked there until 1993. Sue was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, UMW and Questers. She loved traveling, especially to Northern Minnesota, beating her family at cribbage and spending time with her grandchildren.

Sue is survived by her children, Lee Ann (Russ) Remetch, David DeReus (Linda) and Michael (Michelle) DeReus; grandchildren, Bailey (Phil) Mareu, Alex (Morgan) Main, Alli (Nick) Neese, Ben (Hector) Main, Kelsey (Derek Wood) DeReus, Meridith Main, Megan DeReus and Courtney DeReus; step-grandchildren, Coady (Andi) Lundy and Connor Lundy; great-grandsons, Jorden Neese, Andrew Main and Jaxen Neese; Bruce, Lola and a host of extended family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday, May 22, 2016 at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, May 23rd at the funeral home followed by burial at Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
