Don Charles Shutt, 69, died on Thursday, May 26, 2016 in Des Moines. He was born in Des Moines, on December 3, 1946, to Donald and Virginia (McKeehan) Shutt.
He enjoyed watching all sports especially Iowa and Iowa State football and basketball. Don worked in the poultry department at Hy-Line (now Pioneer) in Johnston.
Don is survived by his longtime companion of 49 years, Kenneth Cockerham, numerous loving cousins, extended family and beloved friends. He is preceded in death by his parents.
Graveside services will be held Wednesday, June 1, 2016 at 10:00 a.m., at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 31, 2016 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue in Des Moines, Iowa.

My heart just breaks. I'm sorry so for your loss, he will be truly missed. I loved the times when he would come into the office, we would laugh so much! I'm really going to miss him..what a honor it was to meet him and I feel like I have been blessed to have known him..

Charlie was our neighbor when we lived on 44th. st. Many good, loving memories of our childhood and our mutual love of animals. My deepest sympathy.

Kenny I am so sorry to hear about the accident that took Charlie's life. He was a lucky man to have you in his life for 49 years. My thoughts and heart will be with you during this very hard time.??
