June 24, 2016
Patricia K. Stone was born February 22, 1943 to Raymond Sr., and Rose Andreas Fitzpatrick in Des Moines. She attended St. Mary’s, St. Ambrose, St. Joseph Academy and North High schools. After graduation, Pat became a nurse. She worked at Des Moines General Hospital before joining the Army. She spent 20 years as an Army nurse. She was very proud to have served in the Army and particularly enjoyed her time stationed in Germany.
Pat retired in Ft. Campbell, Kentucky with her husband Dennis Stone. Many years ago, she moved back to Des Moines. She enjoyed spending time with her family and many friends. Pat spent much of her time at the Urbandale Senior Center, and the VA. She enjoyed the activities and trips that were planned at both places and rarely missed an event.
Her Catholic faith, family, and friends were everything to her. She would do anything for anyone, anytime. She was very much a people person.
She is survived by her brother, Raymond and his wife, Lisa, their children, Michael Fitzpatrick and Sarah Juhl, and her husband Matthew Juhl.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Dennis, and niece Katherine Ann Fitzpatrick.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 29, 2016 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street. The family will greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, June 28th at the funeral home. American Flag flying proudly above the grave of a women veteran, By Mary Chavez
I am an American flag flying high looking down on the Women Veteran who is carrying me on the guidon pole. I snap to attention when the wind blows on me during the funeral procession. I sway back and forth with stars and stripes moving along with me in the wind. The sun shines down on the red, white and blue. The stars and stripes sparkle as they shine brightly in the rays. The freedom I represent isnt free at all. I see Pat Stone who died a women veteran who is remembered today. They lowered me down with the guidon pole to salute the women veteran as the bugle was blown and the gun salute was fired. I salute you Pat Stone for your service to this country I represent. You served your country well as a women veteran. Thanks for being a large participant of the women veterans group you will be greatly missed.
