Ronald Wayne Odgaard was born February 10, 1945 to Mansa and Viola (Tucker) Odgaard in Humboldt, Iowa. He died of Acute Myeloid Leukemia at IMMC, Des Moines, Iowa on June 24, 2016. Ron and Debbie Breen married in 1973.
His family moved to Ankeny, Iowa in 1959 and graduated from Ankeny High School. Ron served in the Army reserve. Ron worked for Firestone before becoming a member of Carpenters Union local 106, working for Iowa Interiors. He became a self-employed contractor in 1990.
Ron is survived by his wife, Debbie; children Ryan (Dr. Laura Dakovich), Mollie (Nick) McCoun; grandsons, Brandon and Chase Odgaard, Conner and Brodey McCoun. Stepmother Verdel (Harold) Linden, Brother Richard Odgaard, DVM (Betty) Odgaard, Diana (Joe) Skaff, Bev (Dan) Jury, sister Gayla (Gary) Junkman, step sisters Sharon (Ron) Jones, Shirley (Earl) MacLeod, Sue Myhre-Frazier, brother in law Pat (Barb) Breen, sister in law Teresa (Steve) Palmitier, brother in law Mike (Rachelle) Breen. He is preceded in death by his parents, Mansa and Viola Odgaard and father and mother in law, John and Ann Breen.
Visitation will be held Monday, June 27, 2016 at St. Mary-Holy Cross Catholic Church, 460 NW Washington Ave, Elkhart from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, with a vigil service at 7:00 PM. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 10:30 AM at the church.
Ron treasured time with his grandsons and family. If he was not working he enjoyed fishing, NASCAR, Iowa Hawkeyes, the Iowa State Fair and summers with his lake family and friends at Lake Cornelia.
