Deloris “Dee” Rudy, age 84, passed away Friday, July 22, 2016 at Mercy West Lakes in West Des Moines.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 27, 2016 at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue, Des Moines.

Deloris Martha (Selby) Wilson Rudy was born on February 27, 1932, in Fort Dodge, Iowa, to Franklin Eugene and Cecilia Grace (Durrell) Selby, who have passed. Dee was one of the triplets Donald and Darold, with six older siblings: Bill, Betty, Fran, Dortha, Ruth, and Beverly. Deloris Rudy of Indianola, Iowa was the last surviving sibling of the Selby family. God Saved The Best For Last! LOL

Dee's father was a Pentecostal preacher and the family moved around a lot, mostly in mid and southern Iowa. Their home broke up when the triplets were 7 years old and then some of the children spent a few years in an orphanage.

Dee married Raymond Eugene Wilson and they were married for 25 years and then were divorced. They were blessed with four children. They spent many years attending The Salvation Army and also doing service work visiting nursing homes, canteen, and disaster work. She worked at Reece's grocery in Des Moines, Iowa, but mostly she enjoyed being a homemaker and raising her four children, transporting them for all their music lessons for school and church, youth group meetings, and activities for the Salvation Army.

After the divorce, Dee attended Bible School Conference in Florida. While there, she met Cyrus Rudy, they quickly became friends and she prayed for him a wife. Meanwhile she was set on that she would never marry again. Then Cyrus proposed to her and with guidance from God, they were married in June 1984 and lived in Canada. They frequently traveled to Iowa to visit family. They also traveled in many states doing Mennonite service work for several years. They both enjoyed traveling, helping others, and traveling in their camper. Dee and Cyrus became involved in Prison Ministry which was a very special time for both of them. They made friends and family by heart everywhere they went. Dee always called Cyrus "Sweetheart". They were married for 10 years when Cyrus passed away in January of 1994.

Dee returned to Iowa and lived in Leon, Des Moines, Conrad, Liscomb, then came to reside in Indianola, Iowa. She thoroughly enjoyed her friendships and years with her Esther Aglow group.

She is survived by her children: Nancy, Carol, Dale, and Bruce; grandchildren: Scott, Shawn, Tony, Robert, Tabatha, Lynette, and Johnny; great-grandchildren: Kelly, Cory, Aaron, Lucas, Kaitlin, Ryan, Riley, Shyann, Skielur, Kendra, Alex, Shane, Tristin, Isabella, and Billie; great-great-grandsons: Andrew and Caleb; and a host of other family and friends.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the Hazel Ann Adoption Fund.

A very special thank you to Jen and her crew at Mercy West Lakes Hospital for their excellent care of Dee.
