Service Details

Harold Peiffer passed away and was reunited with the love of his life on July 22, 2016 at the age of 93.

Harold was born on June 6, 1923, in Keokuk County, IA, the son of August and Anna Peiffer. He served in the Navy during World War II. Soon after, he met the woman he’d spend more than 60 cherished years with, Rose (Wallerich) Peiffer. They were married September 6, 1950 and raised seven children together.

Harold was a carpenter and a member of Carpenters Local #106, the Knights of Columbus and Christ the King Catholic Church. Those who knew and loved him will remember him as a humble, hard-working man with a big heart, great sense of humor and a bit of orneriness. Harold enjoyed woodworking, traveling with Rose, his wife, mushroom hunting and making wine. But, what he enjoyed most was visiting with friends and family on his patio.

Harold was preceded in death by his wife, Rose, parents, five brothers and three sisters.

He leaves fond memories to be remembered by his children Doug (Janet) Peiffer, David Peiffer, Brenda Flinn, Mike (Terri) Peiffer, Karen (Jim) Broich, Bev (Al) Kaas and Bryan (Erin) Peiffer; his grandchildren Cory (Angie) Flinn, Heather (Jason) Van Essen, Scott (Dana) Flinn, Stacy (Paul) Sargent, Adam (Ellen) Broich, Missy (Adam) Veasman, Abbey (Adam) Moehn, Dan (Elizabeth) Broich, Jessica (Chris) Peters, Rebecca Broich, Andrew Peiffer, Anna Kaas, Evan Peiffer, Peter Kaas, Jacob Peiffer, Matthew Peiffer and Katherine Peiffer; his great-grandchildren Austin, Logan, Makenna, Luke, Brynlee, Adeline, Amelia, Tate, Elsie, Alli, Sydney, Sophie, August, Henry, Benjamin and Theodore; sisters Lyola, Phyllis, Marjorie and Marian; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and beloved friends.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 26, 2016 at Christ the King Catholic Church, 5711 SW 9th St., Des Moines, followed by burial at Glendale Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 5 to 7 p.m., Monday, July 25th at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th St.

Memorial contributions may be made to Christ the King Parish or Our Lady of Mercy Chapel.
