Service Details

Saralynn Seward was born on Monday, November 29, 1982 at Methodist Hospital in Des Moines Iowa.

She departed her earthly home on Sunday, July 24, 2016.

Saralynn was larger than life, with the force of a hurricane. She lived each day like it was her last and inspired us to do the same.

Her dynamic personality was infectious. You could not help but want to smile, sing, and dance when you were around her.

She was extremely affectionate to all she knew and even people she didn’t know :)

She was our gypsy, hippie, flower child...our peace, love, and light.

Saralynn's favorite holiday was the 4th of July...Really? Of course it was!!! We always knew she was a firecracker!

Saralynn had many wonderful experiences throughout her life. Living in Colorado and Idaho, she loved the mountains.

She was just starting to master snow skiing. Her thrill ride took her snow skiing in Minnesota and Keystone. We're pretty sure her relationship with God was strengthened while making her first run down Schoolmarm at Keystone, CO.

She white water rafted down Colorado's Royal Gorge, British Columbia’s, Kicking Horse River and sky dived numerous times in Florida, Colorado and California.

Her adventurous soul also found her in several major U.S. cities and countries like Mexico and Jamaica, enjoying live music festivals and catching up with friends she'd gathered along her way. Her favorite style of music was Reggae.

With all of the thrills Saralynn had, we know beyond a shadow of a doubt the thrills of her life were her family...especially Chandler, Bailey, Beckett, and Parker! She was the "cool" Aunt and was always "Mothering" them. There wasn't a moment that went by where she wasn't trying to figure out a way to be with them.

Incredibly generous, when she worked at Gateway Market, if there was food left over after an event that she had catered, she would personally drop it off to the Central Iowa Homeless Shelter.

Her favorite food was her mom’s roast beef, mashed potatoes and deviled eggs, so much so that when she was flying back to Colorado, she called the airlines and asked if she could bring a gallon zip lock bag in her purse, with a whole roast and mashed potatoes in it. They said the roast was fine but denied the mashed potatoes. I bet the airlines had never had a request like that before :)

Saralynn lived hard and loved hard. We are loving her hard now, and through eternity until we stand there in front of her again and prepare ourselves for that powerful/meaningful/loving hug.

Saralynn leaves to mourn her passing: her father and mother, Dennis (whom, since the day she could talk, always referred to him as “Her Pookie”) and Mary Kay (Halliburton) Seward; siblings, Annamarie "Annie" (Tim) Schneider, Dennis Seward, Jr. “DJ” and Derek Seward; her significant other, Jeremy Purdy; her grandmother, Dorothy Halliburton; and her miniature Yorkie, Lilly and kitty cat, Irie.

Also her nieces, Chandler Winne and Bailey Desio; nephews, Beckett Schneider and Parker Seward; Aunt Sandra (Seward) and Uncle Bob Price, Aunt Sharon Seward, Aunt Marilyn (Halliburton) Lloyd, Uncle Tommy and Aunt Lucy Halliburton, Aunt Teresa (Halliburton) and Uncle Steve Jones, Aunt Susan Halliburton, Aunt Judy Halliburton, Aunt Brenda (Halliburton) and Uncle Jay Strauss; along with multiple cousins.

Saralynn is preceded in death by her grandparents, Thomas Halliburton, Floyd and Lucille Seward; Aunt Vicky Halliburton; and Uncle Joe Lloyd.
