Service Details

Somsa at Chounlamountry, 76, passed away July 25, 2016. She was born February 9, 1940 in Vientiane, Laos.

She is survived by her four daughters, Phouvaly Chounlamountry, Pepsi Macvilay, Kalong Sananikone, Soutsada Sananikone and son, Meut Akkasone; sixteen grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She joins her daughter, Maniseng Saythongphet, parents and siblings in her death.

Her legacy began with her six children whom she happily raised on her own. She was full of life and is the smartest, wittiest, bravest, most generous and loving women that we know. No matter how tough her life became, she showed her family how much she loved each of us and cherished us through her own ways. Whether it was cooking us our favorite Lao meals or just spending time with us, she always was there for all of us in her own way. Although all of us might have had our differences with her, we all loved her for loving us individually in her own way.

She was so special to everyone she loved. A mother to more than just her own children but to each of her grandchildren. She always inspired all of us to be kind and love one another through her actions. She knew how to live life to the fullest because she didn't take anything for granted, even with the hardships in her life. And because of her tough, gritty, and strong mentality, she will always be remembered as the most loving, caring, and generous person to her children and grandchildren.

She was the heart and soul of this family and we will forever be grateful for her commitment in making us better because we want to always make her proud. She is our angel who will still watch over us even though she is not here because she will live in our hearts forever. May she rest in peace knowing that we will always appreciate her for everything that she gave us and all that she meant to us as well as the memories that she is leaving us with that will continue to move and inspire us to be the most complete and loving people we can possibly be in this world.
