Bernice Madison was born June 8, 1920 in Des Moines, Iowa to Grant and Estella Barber. She was a lifelong resident of the Des Moines area. Bernice was a member of Maple Street Baptist Church and Rebecca Court. She enjoyed spending time with her family, cooking, fishing, and listening to music.
She passed away peacefully Sunday, August 21, 2016 at her home in Des Moines at the age of 96.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., with funeral service at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, August 27, 2016 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. Burial will follow at Glendale Cemetery.
Bernice is survived by her sons, George W. Davis, Gilbert (Jane) Davis, Gary Baring, and Herman Baring, brother, Grant Barber, 17 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Madison and her daughter, Audrey Pierce.
