Service Details

Darlean June Furst, 89, departed this world gently on September 26, 2016 in the embrace of her family at Taylor House Hospice in Des Moines, IA. A memorial service will be held in early June 2017 at St. Matthew’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Wauwatosa, WI with burial of her ashes at Wauwatosa Cemetery. Details will follow closer to the date of the service.

Darlean was born in Burlington, WI on June 8, 1927 to George and Sophie (Hinz) Schultz and raised in Waukesha, WI. She was united in marriage to Warren Furst on February 24, 1951 and the couple raised their family in Wauwatosa, WI. Darlean lived in Wauwatosa for 65 years in the family home until July 2015. Her last year was spent living near her daughter and son-in-law at Woodlands Creek Retirement Community in Clive, IA.

“Dar”, as she was known to many, lived a long joyful life. She loved and was loved by her family and friends. A sweet, caring, generous soul, devoted wife and mother, fun-loving aunt and friend is how many would describe her. Songbirds and flowers brightened her yard where she found much enjoyment. She was an avid sports fan and was loyal to the Green Bay Packers, Milwaukee Brewers, and Wisconsin Badgers. Darlean was devoted to her church, St. Matthew’s where she was a life-long member serving in many ways through the years. Darlean was primarily a homemaker, but later worked for Valley Microforms.

Echoes of laughter from many family get-togethers, holiday gatherings, card games, fish fries, and times at the lake cottage will forever rest in our memories.

Darlean is survived by son, Jeffrey Furst (Patrice Deems); daughter, Sue (Gene) Staker; granddaughter, Nichole Staker and family; brother-in-law, Jim Muth; sister-in-law, Erna Schultz; and many loving nieces, nephews and other family. She was preceded in death by her parents; step-father, Vic Kostuck; husband, Warren in 1995; brother, Elwyn Schultz; sister, Shirley Muth; two step-brothers; and other loved ones.

If desired, memorials to St. Matthew’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1615 Wauwatosa Ave., Wauwatosa, WI 53213 are appreciated. Condolences may be expressed at www.HamiltonsFuneralHome.com.
