Phil Russell Polk II, age 75, passed away Monday, October 10, 2016 at his home in Des Moines.
Phil was born July 21, 1941 in Shreveport, LA to Phil Russell Polk and Lola Erlene Coleman Polk. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy and worked as a Railroad Conductor his entire adult life. He lived in many states throughout his childhood some of which include: Louisiana, New Mexico, Arizona, Nevada, Minnesota and California. He enjoyed betting on the horses and was an avid reader.
He is survived by his son, Terry Polk; daughter, Casondra “Casey” Polk; grandchildren, Afton Polk and Josey Polk; great-grandson, Anders; brother, James (Barbara) Polk; sister, Lillian “Pee Wee” Miller; many nieces, nephews, other family and a host of friends who fondly referred to him as P.R. and/or Dr. Phil.
Phil was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, John Polk.
According to Phil’s wishes, cremation will occur and a service to celebrate his life will be held from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m., Sunday, October 30, 2016 at Jesse’s Embers, 3301 Ingersol Ave., Des Moines, Iowa.
