Jeremy Allen Hensley

Jeremy Allen Hensley, age 37, passed away suddenly Tuesday, October 18, 2016.

Jeremy was born June 26, 1979 in Des Moines, Iowa to Andrea (Hensley) and Gerald Sampson. He proudly served in the U.S. Army and later went on to work primarily as a licensed plumber.

He leaves behind his two sons, Jax and Jantz; parents, Andrea and Gerry Sampson; brother, Paul Doke; sister, Liz (Jeff) Hansen; niece and nephews, Hayden and Taylor Doke and Oliver Hansen; maternal grandparents, Jack and Pat Hensley; significant other, Beth Garland and her son, Isaac; mother of his children, Jessica; aunts and uncles, Debbie and George Jones, Roger Clay, Verna and Mike O’Brien, Monica Hanson Halsey, Kim and Curt Walz, Rhonda and Bruce Dutton, Brenda Draper, Stephen and Pat Sampson, Richard and Pam Sampson, Sandy Sampson, and Karole Dyer; also his extended Saturday night bowling family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Wilma and Gerald Sampson; maternal grandmother, Carolyn Clay; and his uncle Kevin Halsey.

There will be a celebration of Jeremy’s life at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines on Sunday, October 23, 2016. Visitation will be from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., with memorial service at 11:00 a.m. The service will conclude with military honors.
He will be laid to rest in a private family ceremony at Iowa Veterans Cemetery at a later date. In honor of Jeremy, casual dress is preferred. If you would like to wear Cubs or Hawkeyes or your favorite sports team apparel, please feel free.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the family to go towards his sons’ education.
