Raymond and also known as Gene graduated from this life into eternity on Saturday, October 22, 2016. He turned age 86 years old in August. He retired from Pirelli Armstrong Tire Company in 1992. He volunteered and then later worked for Salvation Army Disasters Services. He enjoyed camping, helping others, and traveling. He lived in northeast Des Moines all of his life. He served in the Marines during the Korean War.

He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Ruth; sister, Judy and her husband, Jerry; plus six children, Nancy, Carol, Dale, Bruce Raymond (Janice), Scott (Patty), and Glen. He also has six grandchildren, Shawn, Tony (Melissa), Robert (Missy), Tabatha, Lynette, and Johnny. He also has 16 great-grandchildren, Kelly (Corey), Aaron, Lucas, Ryan, Riley, Shyann, Skielur, Kendra, Alex, Isabella, Shane, Tristen, Paul Raymond, Alyssa, Isaiah, and Joshua. He has two great-great-grandchildren, Andrew and Caleb.

Raymond was preceded through death by three older brothers; three older sisters; and one younger brother.

Memorial Service will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, November 12, 2016 at the VFW, 910 Main Street, Van Meter, IA.

No flowers necessary, any financial donations will be used to assist with expenses
