Virgil Allen Kerr, 74, died November 22, 2016 of complications from Parkinson’s disease. Virgil was born January 19, 1942, the son of Virgil and Mary Kerr. He grew up on a farm south of Clearfield, Iowa and inherited his family’s love of horses. He had several horses of his own which he showed at county fairs as a member of 4H. Virgil graduated from Clearfield High School and then attended Iowa State University.

He was a member of the Iowa Army National Guard, Signal Battalion, a volunteer officer for the Des Moines Police Department, and an active member at the Adel United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Twylla (Gaule) Kerr of Clive, Iowa; his daughter, Amanda (Brad) Neely of Council Bluffs, Iowa; his two grandchildren, Aidan and Addison; and his sister, Janet Kerr of Lincoln, Nebraska. Virgil was preceded in death by his twin brother and his parents.

I will always remember this man for his incredible patience and understanding. Although it took me many years to understand. Virgil still serves as a guide to me as to what a father should be. I hope he can somehow forgive me.

I am sad to hear of Virgil's passing. I worked with Virgil for years at Principal. He was the best at service support, never mince words, tell it like it is kind of guy and people loved him for it. I know he will be sorely missed.
My prayers are with you during this difficult time.

Virgil was a wonderful man. He taught me so much during the years we worked together. He was so special. He even drove an hour and a half to be with me when my mother passed. It was so unexpected, but truly like him to do something so kind. I will miss him.

Virgil was a great man! I worked with Virgil on the evening support shift at Principal. Not only did he teach me wonderful things about supporting remote access users, he taught me how to have fun doing it. He will be missed!

Twylla, Our thoughts and prayers are with you.
I always enjoyed seeing you both at the Alumni Banquets. When we were growing up Allen had a special personality and I am glad to have had him as a friend and classmate. Curley says he never would have made it through Algebra if Allen had not helped him
