Harold Jones, 94, passed away on January 16, 2017, at his daughter’s home in Des Moines. He was born in Decatur, Iowa, on February 6, 1922, to James and Sarah Jones.
Harold worked at Meredith Publishing as a pressman for over 40 years. He was a man of great faith and taught Sunday school for more than 60 years. Harold enjoyed tinkering in his garage and bird watching.
Harold is survived by his daughter, Cindy (Larry) Pauley; grandchildren, Jason Huffey, Jon Huffey, Sarah Huffey, and Candace Jones; 6 great-grandchildren, and daughter-in-law, Mary Jones. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Jones; sons, Philip Leroy and Paul Eugene; 3 sisters and 5 brothers.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m., Thursday, January 19, 2017, at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue in Des Moines. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, January 20, 2017, at Heritage Assembly of God, 5051 NE 5th Street, Des Moines. Interment will occur at Van Wert Cemetery in Van Wert, Iowa.

Cindy, Dad and I were just talking about your Dad at lunch today. I decided to look him up on line and was surprised to find he had recently passed away. We were saddened by his passing, but knowing he is with Christ we can rejoice in knowing that we will see him again. We hope you and your family are doing well. Love in Christ, Mark and Ben.

I have know Harold since I was a small child, when he taught me in Sunday School class, I think on Des Moines ST, Phipp's Church. Reconnected at Heritage Assembly a few years back. Got to enjoy Harold when toward the last I picked him up for Church, and we would talk about many things, and laughed when he would have to point out to me that I had missed our turn off E 29th to get him him, I told him buckle up Harold, I would hate to have to send you home with a knot on your head, if I had to brake quickly. Oh and we would watch for the White Squirrel we would see from time to time on the way to & from Church. I will miss a true example of what a dedicated child of God looks & acts like
