Guenter Hans Bruch was born September 27, 1932, to Constantine and Therese Bruch in Blankwitt, Germany. He met his wife, Irene, and immigrated to the United States in 1955. They married that same year in New York. He joined the U.S. Army as an interpreter and went back to Germany to serve for two years. Guenter worked as a contractor for over 20 years and then was the Building Plans Examiner for the City of North Port, Florida for over 10 years prior to his retirement in 1997. He has been a resident of the Des Moines area since 2011.

Guenter enjoyed fishing and collecting shells and shark teeth on the beach. He liked being at home and was always involved in various projects.

Guenter passed away peacefully Friday, February 24, 2017, at the age of 84, at Trinity Center in Des Moines with his family by his side.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Irene; daughter, Diana White; grandchildren, Alexandra and Adam; siblings, Paul, Alfred, Gisela, Bernd-Dieter; and other family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Georg.

There will be a memorial service Wednesday, March 1, 2017 at Valley Church, 4343 Fuller Road, West Des Moines, IA at 11:00 a.m.
