Earl Edwin Dobbs, 78, went home to be with the Lord on March 17, 2017 at Manor Care in West Des Moines, IA. Services will be held Wednesday, March 22, 2107 at Hamilton’s on Westown Parkway, 3601 Westown Parkway in West Des Moines with visitation from 1 to 2 p.m. and the memorial service at 2 p.m.
Earl was born September 28, 1938 in Grinnell, IA to Hubert Flem Dobbs and Dora Mae Wilson. He grew up in Grinnell and then lived in Hartford, Newton and Marshalltown, coming to Des Moines to work as a barber and a painter. Earl was quick with a joke and musically talented. He played the electric, steel and acoustic guitars, the harmonica, and also sang. He loved the outdoors, traveling, fishing with his son and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his children, Tammy Dobbs, Lisa (Kelly) Doyle, and Aaron Dobbs; grandchildren, Sarena, Selena, Maria, and Seldon; and siblings, Mary Ann Cunningham, Paul, Georgia and Johnny Dobbs. Earl was preceded in death by his parents; and siblings Beulah Hansen, Rosa Godfrey and Ernie Dobbs.
