Mary Evans

Mary Ellen Evans, 83, passed away March 19, 2017, at Mitchell Village Care Center in Mitchellville, IA. She was born October 13, 1933, in Mitchellville to William and Pearlie Dishon.

Mary retired from Northwestern Bell/U.S. West after 27 years of service.

Mary was devoted to her family and cherished their time spent together. She loved taking day trips, crocheting for her family, and crafting which led to many years of shows at the Iowa State Fair.

Mary is survived by her children, Terry Evans and Jerry (Patty) Evans; grandchildren, Tony (Erika), Brad, Matt (Rachel), Nick (Emily), Sara, and Sam; great-grandchildren, Tony Jr., Braiden, Bailee, Avayah, Gannon, Kelli, Kaleb, and Klara; as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Evans; her parents and 8 siblings of which she was the youngest.

Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., Friday, March 24, 2017, at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue in Des Moines. Graveside services will follow visitation at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the Alzheimer’s Association in loving memory of Mary.
