Charlotte "Darlene" Willson

Charlotte “Darlene” Willson, 94, of Des Moines, passed away peacefully on early Saturday morning, April 22, 2017 at Mercy Hospital. Darlene was born on May 30, 1922 in Sioux City, Iowa to Sarah (McDonald) and Matthew Lindsey.

Darlene married Grant Willson on September 10, 1949. She was a high school and a Beauty College graduate. Darlene worked for many years as a beautician at Kirkwood Hotel and Trends, retiring in 1985. She was a long time member of Indianola Heights Evangelical Free Church and the Wagoneers Camping Club (now referred to as the Oldsters). Darlene enjoyed reading, flowers, and visiting with friends and family.

Surviving her are her children, Deborah (Larry) Curtis of Des Moines, Tracy Willson of Arizona, Edwin (Terry) Willson of Arizona and Cliff (Cheryl) Willson of Wyoming; eight grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; and a host of loving family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Grant; her parents; her brothers, Homer Lindsey, Matthew Lindsey, Walter Lindsey, and Bernard Lindsey; her sisters, Barbara Stiffler, Lily Koppin, and Helen Dunn.

Visitation will be held from 5:00pm to 7:00pm on Tuesday, April 25, 2017 at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street in Des Moines. Memorial service will be held at 10:00am on Wednesday, April 26, 2017 at the funeral home. Friends and family are welcome to attend the inurnment taking place at 1:30pm, Wednesday at Glendale Cemetery.
