Naomi Alexander

Naomi Hannah Alexander, age 102, died Monday, September 4, 2017, at Urbandale Health Care Center in Urbandale, Iowa.

Naomi was born January 4, 1915, in Des Moines, Iowa, the daughter of Thomas and Jane (Emslie) Cook. She was a lifelong member of Community of Christ Church and was employed as their secretary for the last 15 – 20 years of her working life. Naomi was artistically talented and was a poet and a musician. She directed her church choir and played the piano. In her free time, she enjoyed crocheting and doing crafts.

She is survived by her daughter, Linda (Greg) Barentine of California; grandsons, Mark and David Barentine; and several nieces and nephews.

Naomi was preceded in death by her husband, Allen; daughter, Jean Alexander; and sisters, Alva Pratt, Josie Potter, Myrtle Hidy, and Eva Williams.

Visitation will be held from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m., with funeral service at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, September 9, 2017, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. Burial will follow at Glendale Cemetery.
