Deanna "Dee" Frederick

Deanna Frederick, 68, passed away September 11, 2017, at her home in Des Moines following a courageous battle with cancer. She was born July 12, 1949, in Creston, Iowa, to Harlan and Mary Forkner.

Dee graduated from North High School in 1968. She began working for Northwestern Bell Telephone Company in 1969 and retired from AT&T in 2001 as a supervisor.

Dee was a caretaker at heart, and in retirement, she stayed active by providing childcare for her friends and family. She also worked for the Des Moines Public Schools as a clerk at Greenwood Elementary, a position she treasured and loved for many years.

Dee cherished her family and her greatest joy came from time spent with her family. She will be remembered as a loving mother, daughter, grandmother, sister, and friend.

Dee is survived by her mother, Mary Hunter; son, Jamie (Kim) Frederick; grandsons, Zac and Roman Frederick; brothers, Rick (Lori) Forkner and Dave (Suzy) Forkner; numerous nieces and nephews, as well as other loving family and many special friends.
She was preceded in death by her father, Harlan Forkner; and granddaughter, Alyssa Frederick; brothers, Mike Forkner and Harvey “Huck” Forkner; and her step-father, Frank Hunter.
The family will greet friends from 5 to 8 p.m., Thursday, September 14, 2017, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street in Des Moines. Memorial services will be held at the funeral home on Friday, September 15th at 11:00 a.m., with burial at Laurel Hill Cemetery.
