Lester Stocks

Lester Stocks, 80, passed away on October 31, 2017, at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines. He was born in Waterloo on August 28, 1937, to Everett and Elsie Stocks.

Lester and Carol shared 51 years of marriage. He proudly served his country for 20 years in the United States Marine Corps and worked for the United States Post Office for 20 years at the Postal Bulk Mail Center in Urbandale. Lester loved baseball, especially the Diamondbacks, and enjoyed fishing, reading and science fiction. Lester was a quiet man, so when he spoke people listened. This man of few words, spoke volumes when he decided to share. We are thankful for the memories and the impact he had in our lives.

Lester is survived by his wife, Carol; daughter, Kelly Slania; sisters, Sarah “Sally” Bast, Dorothy Hack and Barbara Richards; brothers, Donald Stocks and James Stocks. He was preceded in death by his parents, Everett and Elsie Stocks; sisters, Betty Hemmingway, Juanita “Peg” Morgan, Del-Rose “Rosie” Bisbee and brother, Charles Stocks; daughter, Karen Stocks.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 4, 2017, at Pathway Church, 6523 Merle Hay Road, Johnston.
