Wilma Ives Stitzell

Wilma Ives Stitzell, 89, passed away Friday, November 3rd at Valley View Village in Des Moines.

A celebration of life will be held at Hamilton’s Funeral Home on NW 60th Ave. Friday, December 1st at 2pm.

Wilma was born February 13th 1928 in Des Moines Iowa to Frank and Helen Way. She was a graduate of Des Moines North High School, class of 1947, and retired from R.R. Donnelley. Wilma was a woman of various interests and talents and was involved with many organizations to include, the VFW Auxiliary where she served several terms as President of her post, as a volunteer with the Harding Middle School ESL program, Highland Park Lutheran Church, and as a singer in the Sweet Adeline’s choir. She enjoyed helping others, the Chicago Cubs, the Iowa Hawkeyes, reading, cooking, and enjoyed spending time with family at her lake home in Northern Minnesota. She was proceeded in death by her husband Glenn Stitzell Jr., her parents, 9 siblings, and daughter in law Sherry (Mike). She is survived by her three sons, Skip (Colleen), Mike, and David, three grandchildren, Brad (Tammra), Chance, and Makenzie (Mike), and two great grandsons by marriage, Logan and Blake Hegna. Memorial contri¬butions can be made to the charity of your choice in Wilma’s name.
