Gloria V. Slater

Gloria Violet Slater, 96, passed away peacefully Monday, November 6, 2017, at Kavanagh House in Des Moines.

Gloria was born April 14, 1921, in Winterset, Iowa, to Clarence and Julia (Ritter) Gordon. She was an artist and was especially talented with lithography. She loved gardening and won numerous awards for her green thumb through the Des Moines Botanical Gardens.

She is survived by her nephews, John Kelly, Mark Kelly and Todd Kelly, nieces, Loretta Dickey and Donna Lou Davis, and other loving relatives and many special friends.

Gloria was preceded in death by her loving husband, Richard.

There will be a graveside committal service on Monday, November 13, 2017, at Avon Cemetery, at 2:00 p.m.
