Bertie enjoyed spending time with her family, singing, playing cards, working on crossword puzzles, and any kind of chocolate! She also volunteered at Easter Seals, Methodist Hospital and at the Voter poll station at Calvin Community for many years. Her faith was very important to her and she loved to help in any church activity she could. She sang in the choir and as a soloist, headed the Prayer Chain for years, participated in Bible studies, as well as co-chairing the Church Library committee. She also called members of her church on their birthday to sing Happy Birthday to them!

Bertie is survived by her children, Frederick (Janie) Hodam, David (Rama) Hodam, Leah Evans, and Mary (Mark) Strum; 7 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren; brother-in-law, Richard “Dick” Vogt; and many nieces and nephews.
