Gilbert Galvan

Gilbert Galvan, 68, passed away Tuesday, November 14, 2017, at Taylor House Hospice surrounded by his loved ones.

Gilbert was born on February 17, 1949, in Crowell, TX, but lived most of his life in Des Moines, IA.

He enjoyed spending time with friends and family at Cherry Glen Campgrounds. Dad referred to this as “his best times.” Dad had his loyal companions – Josie and Selena, his fur babies who brought him joy and kept him company.

Survivors include his four daughters, Tonja Galvan of Des Moines, Elaine (Jason) VanHoozer of Bondurant, Tina (John) Miller of Des Moines, Petra (Greg) Carpenter of Des Moines; two sons, Gilbert (Kristy) Galvan, Kelly McCann of Des Moines; and all the other children he loved and called his own (there were many); ten grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; three sisters,
Margaret Parker, Carmen Calhoun, and Anita Lund.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 37 years, Bobbi Jean Galvan; parents, Celestino and Petra Galvan; brother, Phillip Galvan; daughter, Rita Marie Galvan; and granddaughters, Alexandria VanZandt and Rita Lynn Galvan.

A Celebration of Life will be planned later at Chesterfield Christian Church, where he was a member, located at 2556 Onawa Street, Des Moines, IA. Please check back for details.
