Darlene Pike

Darlene Pike, age 86, was born July 4, 1931, in Des Moines, Iowa, to Barney and Emma Wilcox (deceased). She married Jerry Pike on May 28, 1950. She devoted over 50 years to the floral industry including owning Darleen’s Flowers in Joplin, MO. She enjoyed all types of flowers and plants and was a dog lover. Darlene treasured time spent with her family and friends and loved cooking for the holidays.

Darlene passed away peacefully on Monday, December 11, 2017, at Mercy Hospice in Johnston, Iowa.

She is survived by her sons, Gary (Jane) Pike and Chris (Cheri) Pike; grandchildren, Matt (Darla) Pike, Nathan Pike, Jacob (Whitney) Pike and Renee (Jon) Fleming; great-grandchildren, Mason, Payton, Carson, Addi, Lucas, Isabella and Emelia; sister, Lily Hazen; and many other family and friends.

Darlene was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Jerry; son, Craig; sisters, Frances Schmidt and Shirley Ware; granddaughter, Stephanie; and great-grandson, Jackson.

Visitation will be held from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m., followed immediately by a memorial service at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, December 17, 2017, at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Ave, Des Moines. Darlene will be inurned at Greenwood Friends Cemetery in Ankeny after the services.
