Elizabeth Shelton

It is with great sadness that the family of Elizabeth Lynn Shelton announces her passing on December 12, 2017, at the age of 41.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday January 6th, 2018 at Union Park United Methodist Church, 2305 E 12th ST, Des Moines IA, from 2:00 PM- 4:00 PM.

Beth is fondly remembered for her blonde curls, big laugh and even bigger independent streak. Her favorite thing was inside jokes with her family (including nicknames for all). She loved Girl Scout cookies, pets of all shapes and sizes, cuddles with her nieces, nephews and grandkids and the colorful, swooping and sailing of butterflies. There wasn’t a rollercoaster or carnival ride that could intimidate her. She would swirl and loop and get right back in line. Memories of childhood days spent at the amusement park and skating rink were amongst her favorites. She enjoyed board games and the opportunity they offered her to spend time with senior citizens.

She is survived by her mother Linda (Robert) Kelley, step-mother Linda Shelton, siblings Mark (Beth) Shelton, Matt (Kandi) Shelton, Karen (Tim) Rieck, Paul Kelley, Tammy Horner, Traci Kelley, Bobby Shelton, John Hutchinson, daughters Rebecca Shelton, Amber Knox and Naudika Houseman, grandchildren Destinee and Charles Ritter, and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her father Robert Shelton. The family rejoices knowing what a big smile this reunion brought to Beth’s face.
